Bihar NEET-UG counselling (UGMAC) guide
Bihar's NEET-UG counselling is called UGMAC and is conducted online by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) at bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. It fills state quota and private college seats for MBBS, BDS, BVSc and BFSc. A separate UGMAC (Ayush) fills BAMS, BHMS and BUMS seats.

What UGMAC covers in 2026
| Counselling | Courses | 2026 notice |
|---|---|---|
| UGMAC-2026 | MBBS, BDS, BVSc and AH, BFSc | Registration and choice filling for rounds 1 and 2 opened on 10 August 2026 |
| UGMAC (Ayush)-2026 | BAMS, BHMS, BUMS | Notice issued 18 September 2026; registration from 21 September; four online rounds |
The UGMAC merit list is prepared from the NEET-UG merit list supplied by the National Testing Agency. There is no separate state entrance test.
Which seats are in Bihar's counselling and which are not
- In UGMAC: the 85% state quota in Bihar's government medical and dental colleges, and the seats in Bihar's private medical and dental colleges, including management, minority and NRI categories.
- Not in UGMAC: the 15% all-India quota in the same government colleges, AIIMS Patna and other central institutions, and deemed universities. These are filled by MCC and need a separate registration at mcc.nic.in.
A Bihar student should normally register for both. Holding an all-India seat and a state seat at the same time is not allowed, so the timing of each round matters.
Steps in UGMAC
- Register on the BCECEB portal with your NEET-UG roll number, name and date of birth. A UGMAC ID is issued.
- Fill the application, upload certificates and pay the counselling fee and security deposit.
- Check your rank card when BCECEB publishes the merit list.
- Fill and lock choices of course and college in order of preference.
- Download the provisional allotment letter and attend document verification and admission on the given dates.
- Use the exit window if you want to leave without penalty, or take part in the next round.
Documents BCECEB asks for
- NEET-UG admit card and score card, and the UGMAC application printout
- Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates
- Residential certificate, and caste, EWS or disability (DQ) certificate where claimed
- NRI or minority certificate where that category is claimed
- For BVSc ward quota, a certificate from the Registrar of Bihar Animal Sciences University
- Aadhaar and photographs matching the NEET application
The 2026 notice made uploading valid DQ, NRI and minority certificates mandatory for candidates claiming those categories. Certificates must be in the format and from the authority named in the prospectus; this is the most common reason a claim is rejected at verification.
Mistakes that cost Bihar students a seat
- Registering with MCC and forgetting UGMAC, or the other way round.
- Listing a private college above a government college without checking the fee difference.
- Assuming Ayush or veterinary counselling is part of the same registration when it is not.
- Leaving a seat after the penalty-free exit date and losing the security deposit.
- Paying an agent for a "confirmed" seat. Seats are allotted only by BCECEB.

Questions people ask us
What is the full form of UGMAC?
Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling. It is the name BCECEB uses for Bihar's NEET-UG based counselling.
Which website is used for Bihar NEET-UG counselling?
bceceboard.bihar.gov.in, the website of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. All notices, the prospectus, merit lists and allotment results are published there.
Is Bihar domicile required for UGMAC?
State quota seats are meant for candidates who satisfy the Bihar residence conditions in the UGMAC prospectus, supported by a residential certificate. Conditions for private college and NRI seats are set out separately in the same prospectus.
Can I take part in both MCC and Bihar counselling?
Yes. They are separate registrations and most Bihar students do both. You cannot hold seats in both at once, so you must follow each round's joining and resignation rules.
Does BCECEB also counsel for BAMS and BHMS?
Yes, through a separate counselling called UGMAC (Ayush), which covers BAMS, BHMS and BUMS in government and private Ayush colleges in Bihar.
